Jason Safford is a driving force towards a carbon neutral world.
He is dedicated to sustainable quality solutions that provide positive impact to the triple bottom line formula that guides the Green industry. Mr. Safford is a tireless advocate of environmental principles and stewardship of resources for the betterment of human / environment interaction.
Since 2001, Jason has served as Chief Executive Officer for Safflyn Corporation - A green development company, whose mission is to create a carbon neutral world. Under Mr. Safford's leadership, Safflyn Corporation has become a recognized leader in the development of Carbon-Neutral properties, Green Technology Investment and most recently, Green Workforce Development. Currently, in partnership with New York City Human Resources Administration, Safflyn is creating a Green Collar Workforce for the unemployed and underemployed population, which Mr. Safford is proud to employ.
In January 2009, Jason co-founded The Center for Green Leadership with Sylvin Lyn as a Green Initiative of Safflyn Corporation to create Green Job Training, Public Policy and Corporate Accountability for Environmental Practice. Their goal is to develop future generations of leaders that practice better leadership
with respect to the environment. The Center has been developed to provide corporate best practices and hands-on application projects for training leaders.
Mr. Safford is a member of the faculty of NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate teaching Environmental Principles and Sustainable Real Estate.
Jason hopes to one day complete his mission of climbing the 7 highest peaks in the world and writing a musical arrangement to describe the experience.
In 2001, Jason began working with Sylvin Lyn on the planning of a company dedicated to the development of better energy conservation and sustainable lifestyle. Four weeks after the 9/11 terrorist incident, Safflyn Corporation was founded as an environmental development corporation dedicated to the improvement of quality of life through conservation of resources and efficient use.
Serving as Chief Executive Officer for Safflyn Corporation, Mr. Safford has advised, consulted, evaluated and negotiated more than 200 hundred million dollars of real estate, technology and environmental projects. In 2007, Mr. Safford completed the successful acquisition of Gelston Castle Estate, in Jordanville, NY. The Estate
currently operates as a green training center and sustainable development.
Throughout the course of his career, Jason has been an innovator of technology and
technology applications.
During the past 10 years, Jason Safford has trained and educated hundreds of professionals for Learning Tree International, New York University, Hofstra University, York College, NASA and several private corporations. His coursework and lectures include Software Development, Technology Management, Application Design, Network Security, Data Migration, Project Management, Team Building and
Communication, Leadership and Accountability, and Environmental Planning.
As a lecturer and teacher, Jason has focused on delivering coursework that results in better jobs skills and professional success for his students. He has actively pursued helping to link corporate recruiters with present and past students with skill sets that match.
As environmentalist, Mr. Safford serves as a member of several organizations including the International Solar Energy Society, the American Wind Energy Association, the Sustainable Building Industry Council, the US Green Building Council and the American Planning Association. His involvement with each of these
organizations has focused on examining the use and application of materials and technology in a cost-effective approach towards environmental development.
Jason Safford began his personal development in 1990 as a Marshall for Earth Day in Central Park, NY. In 1992, he climbed Mt. Rainier as part of a low impact camping tour with Wilderness Ventures. He is a member of 12 organizations, councils and associations involved with the planning, development and implementation of Green technology, materials and strategies.
His dedication to the Green movement includes writing countless articles, letters, speeches. He has appeared in The Financial Times, Utica Observer Dispatch, the Times Union, WKTV, WRKS and several other media outlets. His articles have been published in Utica Observer Dispatch, Richfield Springs Mercury, The Evening Telegram, The Syracuse New Times, The Gleaner, The Star, Queens Press and several periodicals. Most recently, he has authored a GREEN educational series and is awaiting the publication of the forthcoming book, “It’s good to go GREEN”.
Streamlining operations and seeking optimum efficiency in everything he touches, Jason has been at the forefront of R&D for technology, business and entertainment projects. His vast repository of tested ideas included architecting the first online HIPAA compliant medical personalized ID card, developing zero-emission building systems and a personalized fitness program.
Since 1990, Jason has dedicated tens of thousands of volunteer hours to helping those less fortunate.
His committment to service for community created the Volunteer program at Gelston Castle Estate, which allows the beautification of the historic property to be a community-inspired activity.
His many contributions include the Gift of LIfe Foundation, American Heart Association, American Cancer Association, American Diabetes Association, Nature Conservancy, Prostate Cancer Outreach and the Make a Wish Foundation. Jason is a member of the Central Queens Rotary Club.
